The museum is located in the center of Nesna and has exhibitions that show the trade, fishermen’s rorbu interiors, the traditional Nordland boat, and more.

In addition, the museum has smaller themed exhibitions with a focus on school history.

The Nesna museum is housed in two historic buildings on Nesna - Klokkergården from 1823 and in Zahl's old business building.

The main activities of the museum are in the Zahl House, where the permanent exhibitions show objects from trade, household, agriculture, fishing and food industries, as well as local handicrafts.

At the museum you can constantly experience new temporary exhibitions, and a number of different events and celebrations. There is an extensive museum shop, and museum Saturdays with a café several times a year.

Zahl's old business building is a building with a rich history. Here, the Zahl family traded throughout most of the 20th century. The building also served as housing for the family themselves, servants and staff. The oldest part of the building is from 1907. The extension where the museum exhibitions are now, was mainly set up in the early 1950s.

Approximately in the middle of the town of Nesna is Klokkergården from 1823. It is Helgeland's oldest remaining permanent schoolbuilding. The old school has its old interiors with school materials such as desks, posters, globes, books, etc., and is open for events.
