Bodø City Museum
On the surface, Bodø appears to be a young city, with a short history. It is not. The city has a rich history, and parts of it you can experience at the Nordland Museum. Before World War II, Bodø was a busy little coastal town with canning factories, steamship quays, shops, offices and everything that belongs to a city. The city border went two streets behind the museum.

About 1,000 years ago, a large collection of silver was tucked into a crack in a boulder of rocks, not far from Bodø center. The treasure was found in 1919, and turned out to contain the largest ring needle known from the Viking Age and the Iron Age.

The silver tressure is now on display in a separate room and in a new exhibition.

The museum also have additonal exhibitions throughout the year.

The Bodø City Museum is part of the Nordland Museum.
